The key tenement that has made Drink for Charity effective to date is the ability to effectively select charities that allocate a majority of their resources to their programs, and often face a difficult task in promoting their messages to wider audiences, recruiting volunteers and raising funds. Drink For Charity is able to leverage its extensive network of supporters in major cities in the United States to provide fund raising, volunteers and publicity opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible to its beneficiary charities. Even mid-size charities can benefit from DFC's ability to provide additional penetration in core metropolitan markets. In choosing beneficiary charities, Drink for Charity insists that each charity meet the following criteria:

Allocate a majority of their resources to their programs and services and thus demonstrate a below-average allocation to overhead

Allow Drink for Charity to direct the use of funds for specific programs and/or initiatives as it sees fit best with the goals of the organization

Comply with Drink for Charity’s continued reporting and monitoring requirements as directed by the Vice President and Board of Directors

Drink for Charity was founded in May 2007 to help raise funds for two charities: the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Food for the Hungry. While Karen Tilli was in Rwanda, Africa during the Summer of 2007, DFC began its relationship with Nsanginara AIDS Orphans Association which has been the primary recipient of DFC funds to date. Drink for Charity can and will raise money for many charities over the course of the year.
